Has this ever happened to you?! ๐ค
Your child is playing with your phone, or perhaps an old phone you believe to have no service*, when you hear a voice coming from the phone, โHello! 911! Is anyone there?โ In a panic, the call is ended. Suddenly, your phone (the one with service) is ringing. The mystery voice is calling back! ๐ฒ
OR perhaps, you are out and about, maybe running errands or tending to your garden, when suddenly a voice from your smart watch calls out, โHello, this is 911! Do you have an emergency?โ Startled, you end the call quickly. But then your watch immediately notifies you of an incoming call. ๐ซฃ
OR you are dialing out on a landline and need to dial 9-1- before the area code but accidentally hit that 1 an extra time. Realizing your mistake, you end the call in a rush โsurely the call couldnโt have gone through that quickly. But then the phone starts ringing! ๐ฌ
Whatever the case may be, 911 has accidentally been dialed - DO NOT PANIC. This happens very frequently. Phones and smartwatches are great until they arenโt. Stay on the line, let the dispatcher know that the call was a mistake and verify that there is NO emergency. Simple as that. If you do panic and disconnect, answer on the call back and let the dispatcher know about the mistake. You are not in trouble. We just simply want to know you are okay! ๐
Reminder -> RRRDC covers all of Cass County, ND and Clay County, MN โ our NON-Emergency Number is 701-451-7660. ๐
*Yes, phones with no service plans are still able to call 911. This a safety feature. Be diligent if you give your child a phone to play with. ๐ฑ
