Flood Safety Preparedness Week Day 5
Its the last day and the topic is NWS (National Weather Service) partner services. Get ahead of the next disaster by knowing the important players before, during and after floods - including flood insurance. Many homeowner's policies don't cover floods. Be financially ready for a flood event by visiting

Flood Safety Preparedness Week Day 4
Do you know all of the hydrology products the NWS (National Weather Service) can issue? From warning you of potential hazards to keeping you up to date on changing weather and river situations. Flood Safety Awareness Week Day 3.
Flooding can happen at anywhere at any time. There are many causes including heavy rain, rapid snowmelt, debris jams, and dam failure. To learn more about the causes of flooding, visit www.weather.gov/safety/floodhazards & www.floodsmart.gov

FLOOD SAFETY PREPAREDNESS WEEK actually began on yesterday. So here are Day 1 & day 2
Day 1 Flood Safety Awareness / Make sure you know what to do before, during and after a flood.
Day 2 Turn Around, Don't Drown / Don't underestimate the power of water! It only takes 6 inches of rushing water to knock over an adult and 12 inches to carry away most cars. Ensure your safety by steering clear of floodwaters.

Severe Weather Preparedness Week Day 5 Flash Flooding & Flood Safety
• Stay Informed: Keep up with local weather alerts and warnings for flash floods.

Prepare an Emergency Kit: Stock your home with essential supplies like water, food, and first aid.

Evacuate Safely: If ordered to evacuate, follow local instructions and move to higher ground.
• Avoid Contact with Floodwater: Do not enter floodwater, especially if it is contaminated.
• Stay Calm: If caught in a car during a flood, turn around and find high ground.
Secure Your Home: Turn off utilities and secure your home to prevent damage from flooding.
By following these tips, you can help ensure your safety and the safety of your loved ones during a flash flood.
