This weekend, the Cape Cod Cape Verdean Museum and Cultural Center has organized the 3rd Annual New England Conference on Amilcar Cabral. The event features Keynote speaker Dr. Richard Lobban, Jr., Professor Emeritus, Rhode Island College, Adjunct Professor at U. S. Naval War College, Newport, RI and Special Guest Speaker, Bobbi Rose Brown, Sophomore at Howard University.

🏳️‍🌈 PFLAG Cape Cod is hosting their annual meeting @ the Osterville Village Library on Thursday, 10/22 from 6:00-8:00PM 🏳️‍🌈

The Annual Meeting is a great opportunity to connect with the community while learning about PFLAG Cape Cod, what the organization has been up to over the past year, and hear about their plans for the coming year! This event will feature Guest Speaker, Rick Koonce, creator and host of “Profiles in LGBTQ Courage”, a podcast series devoted to profiling the lives of LGBTQ people, their parents, families, and allies, will discuss the series and highlight several of the subjects featured since its creation in 2020.

PFLAG Cape Cod has been a partner organization to BCHRAC for years and we are excited to see what the next year will bring!

Help promote equality and human rights on Cape Cod.

The Barnstable County Human Rights Advisory Commission is seeking applicants for two Commissioner seats and two Alternate Commissioner seats, with three-year terms beginning in January 2027.

Members attend monthly meetings, serve on a working committee, and support community education and outreach.

Applicants must be permanent residents of Barnstable County. People with diverse backgrounds and varied language skills are strongly encouraged to apply.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month 💜

Independence House, Inc. Hyannis, MA is recognizing Domestic Violence Awareness Month by hosting the 26th annual community breakfast on October 16th. This event highlights the prevalence and impacts of domestic violence in our community while hearing from survivors and community leaders working to create a future free from domestic violence, starting here on Cape Cod.

This October, the Waquoit Congregational Church is partnering with the NAMI CAPE COD & The Islands, a chapter of the NAMI, the Mass Cultural Council, and the Falmouth Cultural Council to host a FREE screening of three short films about mental health challenges and resilience 🎞️

The film screenings is open to the public and will be followed by a discussion be led by Jacqueline Lane of NAMI Cape Cod, a chapter of The National Alliance on Mental Illness.
