๐Ÿ‚ Fall for local. ๐Ÿฆž

Just because we're back to school and some of us have hung up the beach chairs for the year, that doesn't mean the good local produce stopped growing. Farmers' markets across Barnstable County are still going strong this fall โ€” think fresh tomatoes, crisp apples, and enough gourds to make your porch the envy of your neighborhood.

Every dollar you spend at a local market goes straight back into Cape Cod โ€” into the farms, the families running them, and the local economy that keeps this place special (and delicious).

So skip the shrink-wrapped produce aisle and meet the person who grew your dinner! Stock up on flavor and fresh products that you genuinely can't get anywhere else.

September is Apple Month in Massachusetts! ๐ŸŽ Itโ€™s the perfect time for Cape Cod families to enjoy locally grown apples, cranberries, and other seasonal fall produce and products while supporting the farmers who grow them.

Explore local food and make shopping at Cape Cod farm stands and farmers markets part of your fall routine. September is such a great time to enjoy the local flavor! This transition time between summer and fall is a wonderful opportunity to still enjoy the bounties of summer produce while also starting to see those fall staples pop up at farm stands.

Sit down with the kids and watch this video together to learn more about apples and cranberries. This Kids in the Kitchen video offers a fun, nutrition-focused way to help children connect with local produce and the farms in their community. Our series was made possible with funding and support from the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) and in partnership with Cape Cod Cooperative Extension's staff Nutrition Educators.
