If elected, I would be the only practicing attorney on the 19-person County Board.
That matters because the County Board oversees and funds some of the most important parts of our legal system, including the Lake County Courts, Clerk of the Circuit Court, Sheriff’s Office, State’s Attorney’s Office, and County Jail. The Board also writes and adopts county ordinances and regulations that affect residents, property owners, and businesses.
My connection to the Lake County legal system goes back years. Almost 10 years ago, I interned in the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, and today I practice law primarily in Lake County and regularly see firsthand the consequences of decisions made by local government. I also see what happens when laws and regulations are poorly written: unnecessary litigation, added costs, confusion, and problems that could have been avoided in the first place.
Good government requires more than good intentions. It requires the right background and skills, and it requires understanding how laws actually work and thinking through their consequences before they are put into effect.
I’ll bring my legal experience to the County Board to ask the right questions, write better laws, and make sure county government is working the way it should.
Lake County deserves a Board with the experience to understand the legal consequences of the decisions it makes.
