Barrington 220 School District Barrington 220 is a nationally-recognized PK-12+ public school district located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

Empower personal excellence in every learner. The first Barrington school was a one-room schoolhouse, which opened in 1835. However, it wasn’t until 1973 that the Barrington 220 School District officially formed. Through the years, Barrington 220 has become a nationally recognized school district, known for its innovative curriculum, rich history and sense of community. As a unit district, Barrington 220 has the unique opportunity to see students’ education from the very beginning, until they graduate from Barrington High School. Our schools have earned a total of 11 National Blue Ribbon Awards and nearly 90% of our teachers have earned a master’s degree or higher. In 2019, 2020 and 2021 Barrington 220 was named a “Top Workplace in Chicagoland” by the Chicago Tribune.

When some Grove students kept drawing four-square courts with chalk, their enthusiasm caught the Grove team's attention!

With guidance from our Buildings & Grounds team, these students helped update the playground by painting a permanent four-square area at Grove!

We love seeing our students’ voices, creativity, and initiative make a real difference in their school community. A big thank-you to our Buildings & Grounds team for helping bring the students’ vision to life!

A heartfelt thank you to our Barrington staff, presenters, student performers, panelists, families, and community partners who shared their talents, stories, and perspectives and helped make this event so meaningful!

Evenings like this remind us that our diversity is a strength and that when we come together to learn from one another, we build a stronger, more connected community where everyone belongs.

Grove 4th grade Dual Language students in Mr. Alfaro and Mrs. Stotz’s classes have been bringing history to life by exploring the stories and accomplishments of influential Hispanic figures!

Each student selected a historical figure, conducted research in Spanish, and brought their learning to life through creative costumes, props, and engaging presentations. Students shared their presentations with classes across Grove, while families were invited to join in celebrating their children’s learning and bilingual achievements.

This project was a meaningful celebration of Hispanic heritage, cultural representation, and the power of bilingual learning. We are so proud of our students for their creativity, dedication, and hard work in honoring the individuals who have made a lasting impact on history!

Today, BHS hosted its annual Career Expo, giving students the opportunity to meet with community partners, discover BHS Career Pathways classes, visit more than 70 exhibitors, and explore exciting career possibilities!

More than 2,500 high school students attended, along with 600 eighth graders from Station and Prairie.

From healthcare, business, and technology to manufacturing, aviation, the arts, skilled trades, and more, students explored a wide range of career opportunities and connected with professionals who shared their knowledge and experience.

The expo gave students a chance to learn about different industries, ask questions, and see how their interests can connect to real-world careers.

A huge thank-you to our BHS staff, community partners, and all of our exhibitors for making this event possible and providing our students with valuable insights into the many opportunities available to them!
