Our Fall/Winter 2026 newsletter is on its way to every Bartlett resident! Be on the lookout for it in your mailbox this weekend.

Our biannual newsletter is one of the ways we stay connected with our community. Each issue includes seasonal safety tips, a closer look at the technology and specialized teams our firefighters use, updates on our department, and information about upcoming events and programs.

We recently had the pleasure of visiting residents at Hearthwood Senior Living and Bartlett Park Apartments for educational sessions focused on safety, preparedness, and maintaining independence.

Our EMS Administrator Laura Negri was joined by Fire Inspector Wayne Maudling at Hearthwood Senior Living and Fire Inspector Nick Ackerman at Bartlett Park Apartments.

During these sessions, residents learned about important topics, including:

Medical Emergencies: Recognizing the signs of heart attacks, strokes, and other medical emergencies, understanding when to call 911, and knowing when other healthcare resources may be more appropriate.

Fall Prevention & Medication Safety: Identifying fall hazards, preventing injuries, managing medications safely, and preparing important medical information for first responders.

Fire & Weather Safety: Fire prevention, safe battery use and charging practices, severe weather preparedness, and what to do in the event of an emergency.

These visits also provided an opportunity to share information about our Home Safety Visit program, which helps residents identify potential hazards and reduce their risk of falls and injuries.

Community education is an important part of what we do at the Bartlett Fire District. By connecting with residents outside of emergency situations, we hope to provide the knowledge, resources, and confidence they need to stay safe and independent.

A special thank you to Hearthwood Senior Living and Bartlett Park Apartments for welcoming us! We appreciate the opportunity to connect with your residents and look forward to continuing these valuable partnerships!

A portion of our training today had crews breach through a concrete wall to rescue a downed firefighter inside our training tower.

Crews inside and outside the building worked together to communicate, identify a breaching point, and practice breaking through the wall to safely remove the firefighter from the building.

We were joined by Fox River and Streamwood Fire Departments for today’s training, and we appreciate them taking the time to train alongside our crews.

The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois will be bringing its free kidney health screening to Bartlett Fire Station 1 on October 30 from 12–4 p.m. The screening provides several health checks, including blood pressure, blood glucose, BMI, waist circumference, urinalysis and, for those at risk, a blood test.
Participants can also review their results with a healthcare professional. The screening is free, no fasting is required, and walk-ins are welcome. You do NOT need to be a Bartlett resident to attend. You must be 18 years or older to participate. To save time, you can scan the QR code to pre-register and complete the questionnaire before arriving.

As the weather cools down, many of us will be enjoying bonfires and outdoor fires this fall. Before lighting one, make sure you’re familiar with your county’s open burning regulations. Rules can vary between DuPage and Cook counties, so it’s important to know what’s allowed and what restrictions apply.

Visit our website for information on open burning regulations in both counties and help keep your fall fires safe and compliant.
