Sometimes the generosity of community businesses gets overlooked so we'd love to recognize these amazing local businesses for supporting our upcoming Haunted Trail event. Without their assistance, programs like this would not be possible. Thank you!!! First State Bank & Trust Ladd Service Company

Happy National Friends of the Library Week and thank you to our volunteers. So what do our Friends group do for BCL? Here are a few examples: provide new technology, support summer reading programs, storytime extras, children’s discovery packs, The Book Page subscription, event tabling at events to provide community awareness of library services, provide volunteer assistance at library programs, raise funds to purchase equipment and materials not available through the regular library budget, sponsor adult, teen, and children’s programs, and conduct used book sales.

There's still time to sign up for tomorrow's Medicare event! Holly Gripka, pharmacist and owner of The Medicine Store in Basehor will be hosting a free presentation to help you better understand the complexity of Medicare Part D. For 2027 coverage, open enrollment will run from October 15 until December 7. Licensed Health Insurance Broker, Lisa Johanson, will be available to answer questions about any aspect of Medicare, not just the drug coverage. Come see if you could benefit before open enrollment ends. To help us better prepare, registration is suggested but not required.

We had a blast on our fall bus trip. Plans had to modified a bit due to rain. We made it to the Glore Museum in St. Joseph, followed by a tasty lunch at Frederick Inn Steak House. The afternoon included a wonderful educational tour of the Holladay Distillery in Weston.
