Chief Ferreiro stated that on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at approximately 2:00 AM, Warren Township Police received an alert from an automated license plate reader indicating a stolen BMW X3 had entered the Township. Officers confirmed that the BMW X3 was still listed in law enforcement databases as stolen and began searching for it. Within minutes, Warren Township Police Officers and Bernards Township Police Officers located the BMW X3 in the area of Liberty Corner Rd., at which time the vehicle fled, and officers initiated a motor vehicle pursuit. Additional Officers successfully deployed tire deflation devices on the BMW X3 during the pursuit, which continued onto Interstate 78 eastbound. Officers continued to pursue the BMW X3 for several miles on Interstate 78, where it became disabled near Exit 40. The driver, Kaleem N. Blue, fled the scene on foot but was apprehended after a brief foot chase. The remaining three suspects, Shamel S. Souvenir, Brandon A. Brown-Shaw, and Al-Rahman I. Howard, also attempted to flee from the vehicle but were immediately blocked from doing so and taken into custody without incident.

Chief Ferreiro stated, “Let these arrests serve as a clear warning to anyone having the intention of victimizing our residents. Our officers are proactive, our residents are vigilant, and we will not allow our community to become a target for criminal activity. Those who choose to engage in criminal behavior here should expect an immediate and decisive response from the Warren Township Police Department. We will continue to work closely with our municipal, county, state, and federal partners to identify, apprehend, and hold accountable those who threaten our safety and security.”
