***EMS Program Update-Hallettsville EMT Clinical Orientation***

The Hallettsville EMT course received their clinical orientation last evening.

Our Clinical Coordinator Steve Garcia introduced our students to an online platform on how to schedule, navigate, and document patient information.

Our students seemed very eager in getting started to meet their clinical requirements for course completion.

***EMS Program Update-PHI Victoria Landing Zone Training***

This past week the PHI Air Medical flight team members Chris Pena and Sophia Pecena conducted a continuing education course at the Port O’Connor (POC) VFD. POC VFD was also gracious enough to invite Seadrift VFD and Tivoli VFD with members from both departments showed up.

It was a great showing from all departments and allowed a time to visit and share ideas and how to use air medical support for the sick and injured.

Thanks to all involved! A special thank you to Chris and Sophie in coordinating with us to get this training done. Thanks Xavier Sledge in assisting in coordinating this event for our Program and volunteers.

***EMS Program Update-Port O”Connor CE Training***

The POC Volunteer Fire Department recently completed CE training on Hazardous Materials and Awareness.

We completed this training to keep these volunteers “on top of” dealing with these types of events.

Great job Port O’Connor VFD and Xavier Sledge in providing this training for them!

Well… we just completed the Summer EMT. The students left our Smithville classroom nice and clean. Thank you!

Today we graduated nine students!

Now we are preparing for the spring. Lots of new things coming!

It was a busy day today! Chris Ramirez and Steve Garcia diligently worked not only on tasks to wrap up the Smithville Summer Fast Track EMT class but they got things ready for clinical orientation for the current Hallettsville Fall EMT class as well. A big thank you to both for always working so hard to get what needs to be done, done!

We’re excited for the Smithville students who will be graduating this Friday. Congratulations on reaching this milestone! Also on the agenda, Chris and Steve tweaked the online platform the students use to schedule clinical rotations, to help make the clinical documentation process smoother for the students and staff.

It’s always an ongoing process to fine tune aspects of the Program so we can deliver the best quality EMS training as possible. We do it for the students. We do it for the communities. Every patient the students will encounter in the future is someone’s parent, brother, sister, husband, wife, child, or grandparent who deserves good care. We always keep this in mind as we train those who will be working in EMS one day soon.
