Crossroads House volunteers cultivated a lovely garden space this summer, enjoyed by residents, guests, staff, and volunteers. Walking through the coneflowers, roses, and butterfly garden gave such a special feeling; a reflection of the beauty created when so many people come together in support of a shared dream. Our community is so fortunate🙏

💜 Walking Together to End Alzheimer’s!

Genesee County Office for the Aging staff were proud to participate in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® on Saturday, October 3rd!

Held each year in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Walk is the world’s largest fundraising event for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. It brings people of all ages and abilities together with a shared purpose: to end Alzheimer’s.

Every Sunday at 9am & 9pm, tune into WBTA FM 100.1 for the "Do You Remember These?" show. 📻 Tomorrow, David Dodge is our guest; Coordinator of Lifespan of Greater Rochester Inc.'s Financial Management Program in Genesee County. ⭐Mary Blevins, a program volunteer, will share what it's like to help older residents on a monthly basis with their day to day finances, and why she enjoys this volunteer role. David will explain how this no-cost program helps, but one easy way to remember is "The Three B's": Budgeting, Bill Paying, and Balancing Checkbooks - plus a dash of mail management to help prevent scams...now you've got the picture 📸 Enjoy the show, hear some great tunes, and feel good learning how this community supports its residents. 🍀 Special thanks to the Genesee Senior Foundation for making the show possible; and to our wonderful AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP volunteer hosts, Connie and Charley, for making us laugh each week!

Get in-person, one-on-one assistance reviewing your Medicare options:
• Wednesday, October 21 | 1–4 p.m.
Gillam Grant Community Center, 6966 W Bergen Road, Bergen
• Friday, October 23 | 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Oakfield Town Hall, 3219 Drake Street Road, Oakfield

🤝 MEDICARE VENDOR FAIRS
Meet with insurance companies and learn about their plans. Both fairs run from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.:
• Tuesday, October 27 — Batavia First United Methodist Church, 8221 Lewiston Road, Batavia
• Monday, November 16 — Batavia Downs, 8315 Park Road, Batavia

In-person mini counseling sessions are available! Call soon to schedule—space fills quickly during Open Enrollment. Please bring a list of your prescriptions and physicians.

Plan comparison charts will be available beginning October 15th by email, on our website, or for pickup at our walk in office in Community Room B at the YMCA or NY Connects Info on the Go locatins.

Join the Genesee County Office for the Aging to learn what to consider as you review Medicare plans, premiums, and benefits for 2027.
