Today is National Stop Bullying Day! Observed on the second Wednesday of October, this day brings students, teachers, school staff, and parents together to raise awareness about bullying and work toward putting an end to it.
Bullying doesn't just happen in classrooms or hallways. As technology evolves, so do the ways young people can be targeted. That's why I was proud to support HB3851, which was signed into law last year. This legislation strengthens Illinois' anti-bullying laws by addressing cyberbullying involving unauthorized AI-generated images, helping schools better respond to these harmful behaviors.
If you witness bullying, don't be a bystander. Use your voice to stand up for those being bullied and help break the cycle. Kindness is free and can truly change someone's life.
If you or someone you know is experiencing bullying, Illinois' Safe2Help program is available 24/7. Call (844) 4-SAFEIL (723345), text SAFE2 to 72332, or submit an online tip at https://app.safe2helpil.com/.
