Bath Township Fire Department Strengthens Emergency Response Thanks to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® Grant
Grant is part of more than $112 million awarded by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® to support public safety across the U.S.
BATH TOWNSHIP, Mich. – As first responders continue serving Bath Township it is essential that Bath Township Fire Department has the tools needed to respond effectively in emergencies. The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® has recognized this need and recently awarded the department a $30,362 grant to purchase SCOTT EPIC 3 voice amplifiers for their self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) masks.
The new voice amplifiers will significantly enhance the safety and effectiveness of responders, ultimately protecting the lives and property of residents during emergencies. Improving communication during interior structural firefighting, confined space and hazmat operations will reduce risks like disorientation during low visibility conditions and miscommunication of priority radio traffic such as changing fire conditions, maydays or reports of trapped victims. Louder, clearer person-to-person communication is essential for firefighters working closely together inside a building, such as during search/rescue, fire attack, and ventilation operations in smoke-filled, high-noise hazardous environments. Clear communication also supports accountability, rapid decision-making, and incident command tactics, all of which are essential for successful fireground operations.
“We are extremely grateful to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and our local Firehouse Subs® restaurant in Downtown Lansing for this vital support,” said Mark Koonter, Fire Chief, Bath Township Fire Department. “Having reliable, up-to-date equipment enhances our ability to protect lives and better serve our community.”
For more than 20 years, charitable donations have powered the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation’s mission to support first responders and public safety organizations nationwide. Since 2005, the Foundation has awarded more than 7,300 grants totaling over $112 million to public safety organizations.
