October is National Pedestrian Safety Month, and roadway safety is a shared responsibility for everyone in our community - whether you are behind the wheel or walking.

Drivers – look twice for pedestrians, especially at night and around crosswalks.

Pedestrians – Use designated crosswalks, stay alert, and make yourself visible.

Last week, Destination Zero Deaths (DZD), Southwest and North Shore Regions, and the Louisiana State Police (LSP) partnered with Lake Charles Memorial Health at Venture Global’s Safety & Health Fair.

The event was an exciting opportunity for collaboration, education, and community outreach, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing safety both on and off the roadway.

See Tracks? Think Train! Week continues and your attention around tracks matters!

On September 22 in Bossier City, DZD Northwest Region, Special Agent Barry Spinney from CPKC, Bossier City Police Department, Louisiana State Police Troop G, Charles Jones from CPKC, and the CPKC engineer and crew joined together to conduct a joint railroad crossing enforcement detail at Airline Drive and Barksdale Boulevard. Officers issued a total of 15 citations during the 1-hour operation to enforce driver compliance and safety around railroad tracks.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in this event! We appreciate the dedication and teamwork of our local officers and rail crew working together to protect our community.
