A $40 million U.S. Department of Labor Pay-for-Performance Apprenticeship Grant will support efforts to expand Registered Apprenticeship opportunities in high-demand industries nationwide.

Led by Florida Commerce, the initiative focuses on strengthening the nation's defense industrial base and shipbuilding workforce while also targeting aerospace and aviation, advanced manufacturing, construction industry trades, and other ship- and boat-building sectors.

The performance-based model ties federal funding to measurable outcomes, providing incentive payments to Registered Apprenticeship sponsors as apprentices reach verified retention and progression milestones.

At Resources for Business: Paying for Training: Resources and Grants, presented by Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA), Louisiana Works joined workforce partners and business leaders to share ways employers can train new hires, upskill current workers, and build the workforce they need.

Louisiana Works’ Dr. Tinicia Turner highlighted the WORKS Training Fund, which can reimburse eligible employers for approved workforce training.
