Before most alarm clocks go off, Donella Wagner is unlocking the doors of RES Eagles in St. Mary Parish Public Schools and making sure every light is on and every room is ready. Then she meets the buses and greets students by name.

Earlier this year, Secretary Linda McMahon named her the 2026 National Recognizing Inspiring School Employees Award honoree, the nation's highest honor for school support staff.

This National Custodian Day, we say thank you to Ms. Wagner and every custodian who helps ensure your child's school is ready each morning. Tell us about the custodian at your child's school in the comments.
