That’s a wrap on Week 1 of our annual Road Shows.

We want to send a huge thank you to everyone who joined us across the state to discuss the proposed 2027–2028 Highway Priority Construction Program. Your feedback, questions, and insight are essential as we plan for the future of Louisiana’s infrastructure.
At DOTD, we are actively transforming the way we work—focusing on accountability, efficiency, and full transparency in every project we deliver for Louisiana drivers. Listening directly to our communities is a key part of that mission.

🗓️ Looking ahead: The Road Show tour continues next week. We'll be back on the road starting Tuesday. Check the full schedule below to find out when the committee will be in your area—we look forward to seeing you there!

- 1928 - East side of Sabine Pass, Cameron Parish, Louisiana, surrounded by isolated wetlands and local ghost stories, the foreboding ruins of the keeper's quarters and the standalone brick tower give it a reputation as a ghost-story landmark.

The State Infrastructure Bank bridges the gap between traditional funding streams and the urgent infrastructure needs of our growing parishes and municipalities.

With this initial $10 million allocation, we can now:
đźź Accelerate Project Delivery: Move critical road, bridge, and multimodal projects from the planning phase into construction much faster.
đźź Leverage Additional Capital: Combine SIB resources with federal grants, local revenues, and public-private partnerships to maximize total purchasing power.
đźź Support Local Communities: Offer cost-effective financing options to local governments that might otherwise struggle to secure favorable terms on large-scale transportation bonds.

This funding is not just about concrete and asphalt—it is about creating jobs, enhancing public safety, and ensuring that Louisiana’s transportation network is prepared to meet the demands of tomorrow.

As election season approaches, we would like to remind candidates conducting campaigns for public office to keep the following guidelines in mind:

đźš« State Law: It is illegal to place signs within the right-of-way of state highways.
đźšś Sign Removal: Signs placed in the right-of-way will be removed and stored at the nearest DOTD parish unit for 30 days post-election.
đź’ˇ Pro Tip: Place signs behind utility poles on private property (with the owner's permission). Most utility poles sit within the DOTD right-of-way.

Thank you for your cooperation and your continued help in keeping our roadways safe and hazard-free for the citizens of Louisiana!

It’s School Bus Safety Week! While drivers need to stay alert on the road, our bus riders can practice safety too.

Here are 4 easy rules for safe bus riding:

🚫The Danger Zone: Stay at least 10 feet (3 giant steps) away from the front and sides of the bus.
✋Wait for the Signal: Always wait for the bus driver to signal before crossing the street.
🚌Stay Seated: Keep the aisles clear and stay seated while the bus is moving.
👀Be Alert: Keep your eyes and ears open around traffic—no running or playing near bus stops.

Let’s make every ride a safe ride!

As we kick off National School Bus Safety Week, parents — remind your kids to always:

🟡 Look left-right-left before crossing the street.
🟡 Stay at least 5 giant steps away from the curb.
🟡 Before boarding, wait for the bus to come to a complete stop.
