πŸ’œβœ¨ Showing up for community, celebrating unity, and standing together for a better tomorrow!

Our Battle Creek Community Foundation team was proud to attend the 2026 NAACP Freedom Fund Gala right here in Battle Creek!

This year's theme, β€œWe The People!”, was a meaningful reminder that every voice matters, every person has value, and building a stronger community takes all of us. 🀝🏽

It was a wonderful evening of fellowship, recognition, and connecting with people who share a passion for making a difference.

πŸ‘πŸ½ Congratulations to the Battle Creek NAACP for bringing our community together for such an important occasion. At BCCF, we're grateful to stand alongside organizations and individuals working to make Battle Creek a place where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

πŸ’œ Different roles. Shared purpose. One community.

πŸ–πŸ”₯ NOW THIS IS MY KIND OF COMMUNITY SERVICE! πŸ˜„

I have to say, I really do have to say, working at the Community Foundation is a good thing! And no, it's not just because I occasionally get to be a guest judge at a barbecue rib competition! πŸ˜‚πŸ½οΈ

I had the pleasure of representing the Battle Creek Community Foundation at a friendly competition at The Haven right here in Battle Creek. Let me tell you, we judges took our responsibilities VERY seriously! Looking, tasting, chewing, and maybe sneaking in an extra bite or two! πŸ˜‹πŸ†

But beyond those delicious ribs was something even better β€” community and connection. ❀️

The Haven does incredible work providing shelter, recovery services, compassion, and hope to people who need it most. I'm grateful for Executive Director Daniel Jones and his team's commitment to making a difference in people's lives.

It was also wonderful sitting alongside fellow community members who share a passion for making Battle Creek a place where everyone matters, everyone belongs, and every voice deserves to be heard.

That's what I appreciate so much about working at BCCF. We get to stand alongside organizations doing meaningful work and help build a stronger community together. πŸ’™πŸ’›

And as for the ribs? Well, let's just say I made sure my vote counted! πŸ˜‚πŸ–

Good food. Great people. Even greater purpose! ❀️

It's Estate Planning Awareness Week! You don't have to be wealthy to leave a meaningful legacy.

Legacy giving isn't defined by the size of a gift. It's about the difference you want to make. Including a charitable gift in your estate plans could help create opportunities for others in the years ahead, supporting the causes you care about most long after you're gone.

If you're interested in learning more about legacy giving, join our Estate Planning workshop at Second Missionary Baptist Church on December 3 at 6:00pm. Or visit our website to learn more about legacy giving: bccfoundation.org/giving/leave-a-legacy/

A legacy of generosity is a legacy that lasts.

Recently, we had the pleasure of bringing together members of the Battle Creek Community Foundation's Heritage Society and Trustee/Trustee Emeriti to celebrate their generosity, commitment, and shared vision for the future of our community.

The Heritage Society recognizes individuals, families, and businesses whose lifetime giving or planned legacy gifts help ensure Battle Creek continues to thrive for generations to come. Joining this group yesterday evening were those that served in volunteer roles as BCCF Trustee/Trustee Emeriti.

Through their generosity, these philanthropic leaders are making a difference not just today, but for the possibilities of tomorrow.

Interested in learning more about leaving a lasting legacy? Individuals and businesses who have made a planned gift or reached certain lifetime giving milestones may be eligible to join the Heritage Society. Learn more at bccfoundation.org/giving/heritage-society/

Protecting your loved ones starts with a plan. We make plans to care for our families every day. Estate planning is another way to care for the people who matter most, helping ensure your wishes are understood and your loved ones have guidance when they need it most.

This week is National Estate Planning Awareness Week, the perfect time to talk to your loved ones about your wishes, and begin creating or updating your estate plan.

Want to learn more? Join us at the Estate Planning Workshop on December 3 at 6:00pm, at Second Missionary Baptist Church. Visit our website to learn more about legacy giving: bccfoundation.org/giving/leave-a-legacy/
