Good morning, Appling County!
Here's our Friday morning update!
What's changed?
We had an eastern shift in track, Georgia will still not be a direct hit, but we will see widespread impacts throughout the state.
What's changed for Appling County?
A good bit, actually. BUT we're still doing okay. Our most notable change is timing. We will now see the strongest impacts of the storm between 3pm Friday and 2am Saturday. We will see sustained winds up to 16mph briefly, staying more between 12 and 14mph for most of the duration. We will see gusts up to 30mph during this window. We will see up to about 3" of rain, with slight risk of severe weather on Saturday, which could increase our rainfall totals. A flood watch has been issued for our area for this reason. Saturation+more precipitation=rising water.
What does that mean for Appling County?
Our largest threat will still be wind. With the ground already saturated, wind gusts could down trees and cause damage. There is a good chance we will see persistent rain. If you must leave, leave early and stay aware of your surroundings.
Remember, any move the storm makes before and after landfall can change our impacts. Stay weather aware, secure loose items in your yard, keep emergency alerts ON and try not to eat all of your hurricane snacks(yes, we know you went and got the makings for milk sandwhiches) in the first two hours.

Stay safe, Appling County.
