We are excited to announce that Bay County is once again joining colleagues nationwide in supporting Operation Green Light for Veterans, an initiative designed to shine a light on the service of our veterans and their families.

As part of Operation Green Light for Veterans, Bay County will illuminate our building in green beginning November 4th, and we encourage individuals and businesses to join!

By shining a green light, we aim to let veterans know that they are seen, appreciated, and supported. Join us in Operation Green Light for Veterans by changing one light bulb in the entryway of your house or business to a green bulb.

This Veterans Day, join us in shining a light of hope and support. Join and let’s turn Bay County green for our veterans!

Thank you to everyone who joined us last week for the ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the renovations at the Bay County Central Kitchen!

These newly completed improvements will help the Bay County Department on Aging continue preparing and providing more than 250,000 meals each year to Bay County residents ages 60 and older.

These renovations represent an investment in the health, well-being, and quality of life of our community’s older adults. By ensuring nutritious meals remain accessible to those who need them, we’re helping our neighbors stay healthy, independent, and connected to the community they call home.

Video of the ceremony can be found on our YouTube channel at:

It's almost that time - the next FREE vaccine and microchip clinic is THIS SATURDAY, October 10th!

🐾 The shelter will be CLOSED on Saturday the 10th to accommodate volunteer and clinic traffic.

🐾 As with prior events, this will be a drive up service. We will begin at 12pm, and ask that you PLEASE do not begin lining up before 11am - doing so will block volunteers and individuals who need to get into the fairgrounds. Showing up too early WILL result in you being politely asked to move or leave by a public safety officer - we will not tolerate any rudeness to our volunteers. You will enter through the second (north) set of gates to the fairgrounds (800 Livingston) and we will have signage and volunteers directing traffic.

🐾 Please bring proof of Bay County residency with you (license, ID, or recent utility bill/paystub). If you are bringing a pet for somebody else who cannot attend, please bring their address and contact information, or we will not be able to issue vaccine proofs in their name.

🐾 For safety reasons, please make sure dogs have on a well-fitting collar and leash, and that cats are in a secure carrier. Please notify volunteers if your pet has any aggression or handling issues. There is no limit to the number of pets per household, but please be reasonable - we typically have the time, supplies, and staffing to vaccinate between 500 and 600 animals, and want to service as many households as possible.

🐾 Pets may receive combo vaccines starting at the age of 6 weeks, and rabies vaccines at no younger than 12 weeks. We are offering DAPP for dogs, RCP +Ch for cats, and 1-year rabies for both.

🐾 There is NO CHARGE for vaccine or microchipping services at this event. However, donations are welcome - cash donations may be made to the rescue to go towards event costs, or pet food will be gladly accepted for our community pantry.

See you on the 10th!
