🎃🍂 Jones College Jasper County Center is joining in on the fun at the Bay Springs Chamber of Commerce’s Scarecrows in the Park! 🎃🍂

Our scarecrow display is a true team effort! ⚡🔧 Our Welding students, Khale Martin and Christian Jones, created a lineman power box and pole for the display. Our Machining Department made a sign featuring a list of our programs, and our Plumbing students created a stand to hold the medical supplies!

We’re proud to see our students’ skills, creativity, and teamwork showcased in our community! 💛🖤

🚛⚡ Our team had a great time at Touch-a-Truck at Sylva Bay Academy!

Our Lineman Instructor, Harry Waldrup, and CDL Instructor, Lee Balliet, brought two lineman trucks for students in grades K3 through 6th grade to explore! The kids loved climbing up, checking out the trucks, and learning more about how they work. 🧡

We love opportunities like these to connect with our local schools, spark curiosity, and introduce students to exciting career opportunities in our community!

Our team enjoyed being there both days and connecting with students from across our counties! It was exciting to see so many students exploring career paths, learning about educational opportunities, and planning for their futures.

We have special blood pressure training equipment that allows our instructor to work right alongside the students as they practice listening, measuring, and learning the proper technique. 👏

Our lineman students are officially off the ground and on the poles! 🪜⚡️

Today’s training is all about the fundamentals! Learning how to properly put on and use their climbing gear, practicing safe climbing techniques, and getting comfortable on the pole as they begin developing the skills needed to become a professional lineworker.

It’s only Day One, but these students are already climbing toward a new career! ⚡️

We had a great visit to Sylva Bay Academy! 🎓

Sonya Ready, Dean of the Jasper County Center, and Keri Read, Workforce Navigator, had the opportunity to meet with teachers and staff to share information about the programs and opportunities we offer to help their students succeed. We also shared information about our One Step Program which makes higher education more attainable for working professionals.

A big thank you to Sylva Bay Academy for welcoming us and allowing us to share how we can support their students! 💙
