🏚️📬 THIS SMALL-TOWN STORE HOLDS OVER 100 YEARS OF GLENN COUNTY HISTORY! ✨
Located at the intersection of State Route 45 and State Route 162 along the Sacramento River, the historic Glenn Store is a reminder of a time when small communities were built around a few important places. ❤️
📬 A post office first opened in Glenn in 1903, and in November 1913, store owner A.K. Barham was appointed postmaster, officially operating the United States Post Office from inside this exact store! 🇺🇸📮
The story behind the store goes even deeper — Barham’s father worked as a foreman on the massive wheat ranches owned by Dr. Hugh J. Glenn, the influential political figure and California’s largest wheat farmer, who Glenn County was named after. 🌾
At its peak, this area was once a thriving town center featuring the store, a church, a school, a saloon, and several homes. 🏫⛪
Today, the historic Glenn Store remains a local point of interest and a scenic stop for riders traveling the Northern California Backcountry Discovery Route (CABDR-North). 🏍️🌄
While the historic store keeps its place in history, the official Glenn Post Office continues operating today from a neighboring building further down the highway. 📬
