BOROUGH OF BEACH HAVEN – POST-STORM COMMUNITY UPDATE

As Beach Haven continues cleanup following this weekend’s nor’easter, we want to provide residents and property owners with a few important updates and recognize the tremendous community effort that took place throughout the storm.

🗑️ Trash Collection & Public Works
Trash collection for Monday and Tuesday has been canceled. Normal operations will resume Wednesday. This will allow our Public Works crews to focus their efforts on storm cleanup throughout the Borough. We appreciate everyone’s patience as crews work to get Beach Haven cleaned up and back to normal.

🏫 Beach Haven School
The Beach Haven School is closed today due to storm-related conditions.

🚒 Police, Fire & EMS
Our Police, Fire, and EMS personnel responded to numerous calls throughout the storm and its aftermath. We want to extend our sincere thanks to all of our first responders who worked throughout the weekend to protect and assist our community.

⚡ Electric Service
Atlantic City Electric worked throughout the storm response, with power restored to Beach Haven by Saturday afternoon. We thank their crews for their quick work getting the Borough back online.

💧 Water & Borough Infrastructure
Our Water Department worked throughout the event to ensure our pumps remained operational and our water system continued functioning without interruption. At this time, Borough infrastructure is in good condition and operating normally.

🏖️ Beach Assessments
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) will be conducting beach assessments throughout the week to evaluate storm-related erosion and impacts. Beachfront residents may see State personnel in the area as these assessments are completed.

⛪ Thank You to Our Faith-Based Community
We want to recognize and thank our local faith-based organizations and community partners who stepped up during the storm. From providing supplies and support to our first responders to assisting residents who needed a safe place to go after leaving their homes, your help was greatly appreciated.

🏪 Thank You to Our Beach Haven Businesses
Once again, our local business community stepped up when Beach Haven needed them. Numerous businesses provided food, supplies, resources, and other assistance to first responders and members of the community throughout the storm. Our businesses have always been an important part of what makes Beach Haven such a strong community, and we sincerely appreciate everyone who offered their support.

🤝 Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Perhaps one of the most important things we saw throughout the weekend was simply neighbors helping neighbors. Residents checked on one another, helped those who needed assistance, shared resources, and made sure the people around them were safe. That kind of community spirit makes a tremendous difference during an emergency.

Most importantly, our community came through the storm safely. Beach Haven’s emergency services, utilities, Public Works, municipal departments, businesses, faith-based organizations, community partners, and residents all played a part in getting us through a significant coastal storm.

There is still cleanup to be done, so please continue to use caution around remaining debris, standing water, and areas affected by erosion while crews complete their work.

Thank you, Beach Haven, for looking out for one another and for once again showing what it means to be a community.

⚠️ Coastal Storm Impacts Expected — Please Prepare Now

Beach Haven Emergency Management is monitoring a coastal weather system expected to bring several rounds of tidal flooding, strong northeast winds, dangerous surf, and hazardous marine conditions to our area through the end of the week.

According to the latest National Weather Service briefing, minor coastal flooding is expected with this evening’s high tide, with the potential for moderate coastal flooding beginning Wednesday afternoon and continuing through at least Thursday evening. Back-bay areas, including Barnegat Bay, may experience some of the more significant impacts.

Residents, property owners, and visitors should begin preparing now:

* 🚗 Move vehicles from flood-prone areas before water begins rising. Do not wait until roads are already flooded.

* 🪑 Secure outdoor furniture, trash cans, umbrellas, decorations, construction materials, and other loose objects. Coastal winds on Wednesday are forecast around 25–35 mph with gusts near 45 mph.

* 🌊 Never drive through flooded roadways. Water depth and road conditions can be difficult to judge, particularly after dark. If a roadway is flooded, turn around and find another route.

* 🏠 Check your property now. Move items from low-lying garages, crawl spaces, yards, and other areas that typically take on water during tidal flooding.

* 🚧 Allow extra travel time around high tide. Some low-lying and bayside streets may become temporarily impassable.

* 🏖️ Stay out of dangerous surf. A High Risk of rip currents and dangerous surf is expected through Friday, and beach erosion is likely.

* 📱 Stay informed. Continue monitoring official Beach Haven Emergency Management and National Weather Service updates as conditions and forecasts may change.

Do not become complacent because conditions appear manageable at the start of the event. This is expected to be a prolonged period of coastal impacts involving multiple high-tide cycles, with conditions potentially worsening Wednesday into Thursday. Taking a few simple precautions ahead of time can prevent property damage and unnecessary emergencies.

Beach Haven Emergency Management will continue monitoring conditions and provide updates as warranted.

Prepare early. Stay informed. Stay safe, Beach Haven.

08/20/2026

A severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued and is valid until 10 PM. Included is the potential for a couple tornadoes.

08/15/2026

Good afternoon! It stays fair and dry through tonight before showers and storms arrive by later tomorrow and especially tomorrow evening. Note: we expect showers to begin moving into our eastern PA zones as early as the morning hours but it may not reach the coast until mid to late afternoon. As the graphic depicts, there is a threat of flash flooding but this is not to say everyone will see flooding as the heaviest rain amounts will tend to be localized. The heaviest of the rain and greatest risk for flooding looks to be in the evening period.

When is it going to rain at your house? You can visit weather.gov/phi and enter your city or zip code in the box in the upper left to get a location specific forecast!

Borough of Beach Haven – Emergency Management Update
Winter Storm Hernando Recovery & Mitigation

The storm has passed, and we are now fully focused on recovery and mitigation throughout the Borough. We recognize that this has been a challenging event, particularly for our senior residents, and we sincerely thank you for your patience and resilience as cleanup continues.

⚡ Power Outages & Wellness Checks
Some areas of the Borough remain without power. If you are experiencing an outage, please contact Atlantic City Electric (ACE) and/or the Beach Haven Police Department so you can be placed in the restoration queue.

ACE crews have been working non-stop since last evening, and in most cases power has been restored in under 24 hours.

Residents may also notify the Police Department Dispatcher if they wish to be placed on a wellness check list. Officers can then check on you periodically to ensure you are safe or take action if needed—especially for those living alone or without power.

If you require access to a warming station, please contact the Police Department directly so assistance can be arranged.

🏛️ Municipal Closures
For safety and operational reasons, the following facilities will remain closed until further notice:

Borough of Beach Haven Borough Hall

Beach Haven School

Beach Haven Public Library

🚛 Public Works & Sanitation
Garbage pickup has been delayed so that Public Works can continue their outstanding work with snow removal and roadway clearing. There remains a significant amount of snow, debris, and downed utility lines being safely addressed throughout the Borough. South end Wednesday and North end Thursday.

Residents are asked to avoid placing trash or recycling in roadways until regular collection schedules resume.

⚠️ Safety Reminders

Stay clear of downed or low-hanging wires and report them immediately to Police or ACE.

Use caution when walking outdoors, as snow and ice conditions persist in some areas.

If using alternative heating sources, ensure proper ventilation and never use grills or generators indoors.

🌊 Coastal Conditions
There is notable beach erosion resulting from the storm. The Borough is documenting these impacts and will be coordinating with the State on appropriate mitigation and recovery efforts moving forward.

🤝 Community Update
Cleanup operations are ongoing, and conditions will continue to improve. Residents are encouraged to check on neighbors who may need assistance and to reach out to the Police Department if support is needed.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and community spirit as we work together through the recovery from Winter Storm Hernando.
