We would like to thank City of Beacon Council members Carolyn Bennett Glauda , Sergei Krasikov, Lastar Gorton and Mayor Kyriacou for taking the time from their busy Saturday to stop by, introduce themselves, and see what it takes to be a firefighter! We discussed some of our everyday challenges, staffing, our apparatus, our gear, equipment, training, and emergency response. We allowed each member to gear up, climb a ladder, force a door, drag a victim, and flow a charged handline, all events that would take place on the fire ground! We would like to thank everyone for taking the time and initiative to make an appearance and show their support!

The City of Beacon Fire Department is exploring opportunities to expand our water rescue program and strengthen our ability to respond to emergencies on the Hudson River.

Two of our members recently traveled to Bellevue, Washington to learn about the Bellevue (WA) Fire Department’s extensive water rescue program and receive hands-on training with their specially modified water rescue craft.

We would like to thank the City of Bellevue Fire Department and the members of Bellevue Firefighters - IAFF, Local 1604 for arranging the training, sharing their knowledge and experience, and making our members feel welcome. We greatly appreciate their time and hospitality!
