🚒🔥 A Special Visit from the Laurel Bay Firefighters! 🚑👨‍🚒

Students at Elliott and Bolden Schools had an exciting, hands-on learning experience thanks to the amazing firefighters and emergency responders from the Laurel Bay Fire Department!

Our students had the opportunity to explore a fire truck, water tender, and ambulance while getting an up-close look at the specialized equipment these everyday heroes use to keep our community safe. 🚒💦🚑

The excitement didn’t stop there! Students were thrilled to receive their very own Laurel Bay Firefighter swag bags and fire helmets to remember this special experience! 🧑‍🚒🎁

The Bolden Information Center is incredibly grateful to our wonderful PTO for their generous donation of new books, made possible through the proceeds from our recent Book Fair!

🔎 Dilation Detectives on the case!

Someone changed the size of six pieces of evidence at Bolden, and our 8th graders had to figure out what happened! Working in teams, students followed clues to evidence stations around the school, returned to class to solve each dilation challenge, and had their work checked before receiving the next clue.

They put scale factors, coordinates, and teamwork to work as they cracked the case. Great investigating, Eagles! 🦅📐

Students created pizzas and investigated circles by measuring radius and diameter, calculating circumference and area, and comparing the cost per square inch.📏🧮

🩺🔬 7th Grade Scientists Discover How the Human Body Works! 🔬🩺

Our 7th grade students are wrapping up their Human Body Systems unit with engaging, hands-on learning experiences!

Throughout the week, students explored how the body's systems work together to keep us healthy and functioning. They put their skills to the test at interactive review stations, including measuring their reaction time by catching a dropped yardstick and investigating the levels of organization within the human body.

By sorting different cell types, such as stomach lining cells, heart cells, and nerve cells, students demonstrated their understanding of how cells form tissues, tissues form organs, and organs work together in organ systems. These activities helped bring complex concepts to life while reinforcing important scientific connections.

We are proud of the enthusiasm, teamwork, and critical thinking our students displayed throughout this unit. Great job, future healthcare professionals, researchers, and scientists! 🧠❤️👏
