Parts of California are experiencing elevated temperatures this week.

Stay safe by drinking plenty of water, limiting time outdoors during the hottest hours, and checking on those who may be vulnerable to the heat. Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.

Stay cool, hydrated, and safe, California!

Last Friday, CHP Beaumont was proud to attend the Morongo Thunder & Lightning Powwow!

Officers, Explorers, and Senior Volunteers from the CHP Beaumont Area connected with members of the community and helped promote traffic safety through the CHP’s Native American Tribal Traffic Education Program (TTEP). TTEP provides free traffic safety education to drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists on and near tribal lands throughout California. The program offers education for all ages and focuses on reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities.

We appreciate the opportunity to connect with the community and look forward to continuing to build strong partnerships in the communities we serve. 🤝🚔

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

This Maximum Enforcement Period is about more than enforcement. It's about preventing the next tragedy.

From 6:00 p.m. October 2 through 5:59 a.m. October 3, CHP personnel of all ranks and assignments will be working throughout California, with a particular focus on identifying and removing impaired drivers from the road.

In 2017, CHP Officer Mark Latulippe's family experienced a devastating loss caused by an impaired driver. Their story is told in the Emmy Award-winning CHP documentary Falling — a powerful reminder of why this work matters and what can happen when someone chooses to drive impaired.

This MEP isn't about how many citations are written or arrests are made. It's about preventing crashes, saving lives, and making sure more families make it home safely.

It is with profound sadness that the California Highway Patrol announces the line-of-duty death of Officer Brian Liles of the Visalia Area.

On September 28, 2026, at approximately 5:11 p.m., CHP Motorcycle Officer Liles was involved in an on-duty traffic crash on State Route 99, just north of State Route 190 in Tipton. He sustained critical injuries and, despite lifesaving efforts, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Officer Liles, 44, served the people of California for more than 16 years. After graduating from the CHP Academy in 2010, he was assigned to the San Jose Area and later served in the Hayward and Fresno Areas before transferring to the Visalia Area in 2019.

Officer Liles is survived by his wife, two children, his parents, and two sisters.

The CHP extends its deepest condolences to Officer Liles' family, friends, loved ones, and all who served alongside him. His dedication to public service and commitment to protecting the people of California will not be forgotten.

It's National Child Passenger Safety Week.

Keeping California's youngest passengers safe is a responsibility we take seriously.
During National Child Passenger Safety Week, the California Highway Patrol reminds parents and caregivers to make sure children are properly restrained in a car seat or booster seat that is appropriate for their age, height, and weight.

CHP officers across California are committed to educating families and promoting safe transportation practices to help protect children on every trip.

Before you hit the road, take a moment to check the seat, check the harness, and buckle up.

Interested in getting your car seat checked or installed for free? Contact your local CHP office.

On September 11, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost and honor the courage of the first responders who ran toward danger to help others.

We remember the sacrifices made that day and the lasting impact on our nation.

Today, we pause to remember.

September is California Rail Safety Month.

Whether you're driving, walking, or riding near railroad tracks, remember: trains always have the right of way.

• Obey railroad crossing signals and gates.
• Never stop on the tracks.
• Stay off railroad tracks and never use them as a shortcut.
• Look and listen for trains, even when a crossing appears clear.

A train can't stop quickly, but you can make the safe choice. 🚦🚶

🎒 BACK TO SCHOOL: SLOW DOWN & STAY ALERT 🚸

As students return to school, drivers can expect increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic. CHP Beaumont officers will be monitoring school zones and enforcing traffic laws to help keep students, pedestrians, and motorists safe.

🚗 FOR DRIVERS

🔹 Obey all posted speed limits and traffic signs in school zones.
🔹 Follow the directions of crossing guards and stop when directed. Remain stopped until the crossing guard has safely returned to a place of safety.
🔹 Always yield to pedestrians in crosswalks and do not proceed until it is safe to do so.
🔹 When approaching a school bus displaying flashing red lights, stop as required by law and remain stopped until the lights are no longer flashing and it is safe to proceed.
🔹 When children are outside or crossing the street, the speed limit is generally 25 MPH within 500 feet of a school, unless otherwise posted.

🚶 FOR PEDESTRIANS

🔹 Follow the directions of crossing guards.
🔹 Wait for the crossing guard’s signal before entering the crosswalk.
🔹 Make sure approaching traffic has stopped before entering the roadway.

🚦 WI******ER ROAD & HADDOCK STREET

A reminder for drivers and pedestrians approaching the traffic signal:

🟡 Flashing Yellow: A flashing yellow traffic signal is a warning to PROCEED WITH CAUTION. Slow down and be alert. You do not need to stop.

🟡 Solid Yellow: A solid yellow traffic signal means CAUTION. The light is about to turn red. When you see a yellow traffic signal, stop if you can do so safely. If you cannot stop safely, cautiously cross the intersection.

🔴 Flashing Red: A flashing red signal means STOP. After stopping, you may proceed when it is safe. Remember to yield to pedestrians and obey crossing guard directions.

🔴 Solid Red: Come to a complete stop and do not proceed until the signal changes, unless otherwise permitted by law.

Normal Operation: Once the entire cycle finishes and the beacon goes dark, normal traffic flow resumes.

School is back in session. Slow down, stay alert, and help us keep our students safe. 👮‍♂️🚔
