City of Beaver Dam residents that receive City sponsored solid waste collection services are advised that starting Monday, October 19, 2026, leaves, grass rakings, garden vines and stalks may be placed in tree border areas at the street edge, NOT in the street, in loose piles, for collection by Public Works. This collection will begin sometime within the next 2 weeks and continue through an announced date in November.

Please note the following guidelines:
Yard waste is NOT allowed to be placed in the street or gutter.

If possible, do not pile yard waste around or near trees, street light poles, or street sign posts. Piling yard waste around these items slows down the collection process.

These materials must be placed loose at the curbside. Please do not place in a container or in the street.

Leaves, rakings and garden debris must not be mixed with any other forms of waste such as brush or shrubbery cuttings, and NOT placed in the street. Separate regulations pertaining to brush and shrubbery collections are still in effect.

Fruits, nuts and vegetables are not acceptable and should be disposed of as garbage.

Violations will be rejected and must be removed from the curb (tree border) within 24 hours.

We will attempt to keep the Leaf Collection page on the city’s website updated regularly. The final collection for the season will be announced in November, and is dependent on the weather.

The Public Works Yard Waste Drop-off Site, at 205 W South Street, is also available for disposal of these and other yard waste materials by City Residents only. No waste of any kind will be accepted from outside of the city limits or from any contractors.

Questions should be directed to the Department of Public Works at 887-4635 or through the City’s web site at www.cityofbeaverdam.com.

Building materials or any type of wood are not picked up curbside and shall be cut to fit, and disposed of, in the weekly garbage collection cart or taken to the bulk truck drop-off which is available twice per month. NO bundled or loose piles of building materials will be collected curbside.

Appliances, tires, batteries, or any electronic items are EXCLUDED from pick-up. These items are not allowed in landfills.

Residents are reminded that there are two opportunities per month to dispose of bulk waste, building materials, and excess garbage at the drop-off site.
