Meet our October Community Captain of the month, Sarah Blackburn!

Sarah is a climbing guide who donates time to Active SWV free climbing programs every month. If you have attended one of these programs, you know what a talented instructor she is and what a gift she is giving the communities around her.

Sarah moved here from North Carolina three years ago with her husband, George, and their border collie, Schätze.

Sara was never very active until she started rock climbing. The intellectual challenge of solving the puzzle of the route motivated her to get in better shape.

Sarah volunteers with Active SWV to offer free climbing programming because, “Rock climbing outdoors can feel intimidating, and I love being able to make it more accessible and fun for people,” she says.

Are you new to Active SWV and want to attend a program?

Here is what you need to know:

1. Complete your membership here: https://rpb.li/tmJpvc

This membership entitles you to free registration to all Active SWV programs, and also signifies your acceptance to our liability waiver and policies. Every person attending must have completed this step; yes children, yes out of town guests, yes you! *children who do not have their own unique email address will need to be signed up using an iteration of the parent email. E.g. If the parent's email is [email protected], then for the minor/child use the email address [email protected], and so forth. *child accounts using this email format will not actually have a log in ability, since the email is not real and cannot be checked

2. During the membership creation, you will create an account username and password. The username will be your email address. You will set your own password. We recommend something like Activeswv2026! to meet all the character requirements, but make it something you will remember.

3. Check your email, you will receive a link to verify your email address is yours.

4. Download the app, My Glue. Using your log in credentials, sign in, and browse events to sign up. Or, use the website calendar www.activeswv.org/calendar to find your event and log in/register

5. Go enjoy your program!

***Note, once you have completed the first step, you are able to attend any programs without redoing the membership step. Membership needs to be completed one time per individual.
