As a curtesy to last minute Taxpayers, the Trimble County Sheriffs Office will be OPEN on Saturday October 31st, 2026, from 8:00 AM till Noon. This will allow anyone who wants to pay their taxes before the 2% discount expires on November 2nd to do so. Please enter the courthouse through the FRONT Door on the East side. Kentucky State Police Post 5 Makes Arrest of Armed Man on School Property in Trimble County

Bedford, Ky. (September 29, 2026) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 5 in Campbellsburg received a 911 call about a man outside the Trimble County High School armed with a handgun. In less than 3 minutes, Post 5 Troopers arrived at the school and took the man into custody without incident, ensuring there was no danger to the students or public.

Brendan Parkin (22) of Doniphan, Missouri, was arrested and charged with the following:
1) Terroristic Threatening, 2nd
2) Operating Motor Vehicle Under the
Influence Alcohol, 1st
3) Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place
(1st and 2nd offense)
4) Violation of Conditions of Release

This investigation remains ongoing by KSP Post 5 and was assisted by the Trimble County Sheriff’s Office.

To the residents of Trimble County
Our new property tax statements will be mailed out on September 28, 2026 and they have an updated format.
They will be easy to recognize, arriving in a regular envelope with the Trimble County Sheriff’s Office Logo on them.
Please remember there is now information on both sides of the enclosed property tax statement. Thursday October 1, 2026 is the date our office will begin collecting property tax payments.

Under Kentucky law (KRS 189.370), it is illegal to pass a stopped school bus from any direction on a two-lane road when red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.
School Buses are equipped with cameras that record vehicles passing.

**Effective July 15, 2026:
If any vehicle is witnessed to be in violation of this section and the identity of the operator is not otherwise apparent, it shall be a rebuttable presumption that the person in whose name the vehicle is registered or leased was the operator of the vehicle at the time of the alleged violation and is subject to the penalties as provided for in KRS 189.990(5).

**Penalties:
Violations are a Class B Misdemeanor.
First Offense penalties are 100-$200 fine, and/or 30–60 days in jail, and 6 points on the license.

**Exceptions:
Drivers do not have to stop if they are on a highway with a separated median or other physical barrier, and they are traveling in the opposite direction of the school bus.

**Safety Zone:
Students are advised to stay 10–12 feet back from the road.
