After some weather delays and completing projects in other jurisdictions, our contractor will be onsite Wednesday, October 14th, to start the installation of the shade structure for the small dog area of the Ma & Pa Dog Park. The small dog area of the Ma & Pa Dog Park will be closed for approximately two weeks during this project. Please obey all the signage and restrictions during the installation project. The large dog park side should not be impacted.

Parks and Recreation staff from Eden Mill Nature Center and Anita C. Leight Estuary Center are proud serve Harford County Envirothon students as the experts for aquatics! This past Friday, our staff planned and facilitated the aquatics station for this school year’s fall Envirothon Workshop! Harford County students had the opportunity to explore the macroinvertebrates of the beautiful Deer Creek with the help of staff. 🐌

Students learned that different macroinvertebrate species have varying tolerances to pollution in the water. Based on the species they found, students were able to determine the health of the stream! 🌊

We are proud to support such a dynamic program, encouraging young students to learn more about their local ecosystem. We look forward to continuing our work with students throughout the school year in preparation for their big competition day in the spring! 💮

Calling all boys and girls ages 5-14! Join the Joppatowne Youth Wrestling Program this season and learn valuable skills, build confidence, make friends, and have fun on the mat!

✅ Ages: 5-14
✅ Cost: $89 per participant
✅ Practices: 2 nights per week, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM at Joppatowne High School
✅ Season: Week of November 16 through the end of February
✅ Flexible practice schedule

Equipment Needed: Wrestling shoes and headgear (not provided)

You are officially invited to Park & Recreation Olympic Day, a completely free sports event taking place on October 16 at Edgewood Recreation & Community Center (1980 Brookside Drive, Edgewood).

Registration begins at 2:30 PM, and competition is open to the following age groups:

🥇Ages 5 to 7
🥇Ages 8 to 10
🥇Ages 11 to 13
🥇Ages 14 to 16

This is the perfect opportunity to put your skills to the test with three unique challenges in each sport, all in an environment focused on friendly competition and community spirit. Bring your friends, channel the energy of your favorite anime heroes, and prove you have what it takes to reach the podium!

After the competition, stick around for a free showing of Space Jam: A New Legacy beginning at 6:45 p.m..

Joppatowne Community Complex Update

As part of the Development Advisory Committee review process, the Department of Parks & Recreation will be holding a Community Input Meeting for the Joppatowne Community Complex on Monday, November 9th at 6pm at Joppatowne High School cafeteria. The project will be located off Trimble Road and the first phase of the project will include the construction of four athletic fields, pickleball courts, parking, and stormwater management features.
