When charging on a plane, keep portable charging devices on the tray table. Do not charge devices in overhead compartments and never charge e-cigarettes or vapes on a plane. If a battery overheats or fails, it is important for the flight crew to be able to respond quickly.

Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging. These batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they fail.

Today, Belcourt Rural Fire Department welcomed North Dakota State Fire Marshal Matt Clark for a visit focused on answering questions, sharing knowledge, and providing some much needed one-on-one training on the ESO reporting system.

Matt took the time to work hands on with our crew, patiently walking them through the system step by step and making sure their questions were addressed. We appreciate his willingness to work alongside our firefighters and help strengthen the knowledge and skills that keep our department moving forward.

We’re already looking forward to future visits! Next time, we hope Matt can stick around a little longer and enjoy more of what our beautiful community has to offer.

Discussions are already underway for future training opportunities with Belcourt Rural Fire Department and surrounding communities, and we’re excited to see those plans come together!

Thank you, Matt, for your time, patience, and commitment to supporting our fire service. We look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and build these partnerships!

Stop using your device right away if the battery smells strange, is warm to the touch, makes popping noises, changes in shape or color, or if you see smoke. If it is safe, move the device away from anything that can catch fire. A damaged battery can overheat and start a fire.

Charge on a hard, flat surface like a table, desk, or floor. Beds, couches, and pillows can trap heat and block airflow, which can cause a battery to overheat.

Unplug your device when it is fully charged. Leaving it plugged in longer than needed can increase heat and stress on the battery.
