Hidden beneath the surface of Belen lies a piece of Cold War history that few people know exists — the Belen Bunker.

Built during a time when global tensions ran high, this underground communications bunker once served as part of a nationwide effort to maintain critical lines of communication in the event of an emergency. Designed for resilience and secrecy, it stands today as a rare and tangible reminder of an era defined by uncertainty, preparedness, and innovation.

Now, decades later, the Belen Bunker has a new mission: preservation.

We are working to restore and protect this historic site, with the goal of securing official historic designation through the City of Belen. By doing so, we hope to ensure that future generations can experience and learn from this unique piece of local and national history.

This isn’t just about concrete and steel — it’s about the stories, the strategy, and the people who lived through one of the most pivotal periods in modern history.

Follow along as we uncover, preserve, and share the legacy of the Belen Bunker.
