Lithium-ion batteries are everywhere these days, from phones and laptops to e-bikes, scooters, power tools, and other everyday devices. While they make our lives easier, they can also create a serious fire hazard when they are damaged, improperly charged, or used incorrectly.

🚒🔥 Thank You, Bellbrook! 🔥🚒

What a great way to wrap up an incredible week of fire prevention talks and officially kick off Fire Prevention Week 2026!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to our Open House yesterday! We loved seeing so many families from our community, and we hope everyone had a great time learning about fire safety, meeting our firefighters, checking out the apparatus, and enjoying all the activities.

🔥 What a great week of Fire Prevention! 🚒

We wrapped up an incredible week of fire prevention talks throughout the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek School District! This week, we completed our presentations with 5th grade at Bell Creek Intermediate and the preschool students at the St. Pierre Education Center.

Over the course of the week, Bellbrook Fire Department firefighters had the opportunity to reach approximately 1,200 students throughout the district! We talked about fire safety, 911, smoke alarms, stop, drop and roll, safe meeting places, and this year’s focus on lithium-ion battery and charging safety.

A huge thank you to all of the teachers, staff, and students for welcoming us into your classrooms and making this week such a success. Most importantly, thank you for helping us Charge into Fire Safety! 🔥🔋

🚒🔥 Fire Prevention Week continues! 🔥🚒

A big thank you to the 3rd-grade classes at Bell Creek Intermediate for allowing us to spend some time with them this morning and share some important fire safety tips!

We also talked about the importance of Lithium-Ion battery safety and properly charging the devices we use every day. 🔋⚡

Lithium-Ion batteries are found in so many of the devices we use on a regular basis, from phones and tablets to laptops, toys, power tools, and e-bikes. We discussed the importance of using the proper charger, charging devices safely, and recognizing signs that a battery may be damaged or overheating.

Thank you to the students and teachers for being engaged and asking great questions! We appreciate the opportunity to help keep our community safe. 🚒❤️

🚒🔥 Fire Prevention Week continues! 🔥🚒

Today was another busy day of fire prevention education!

We want to thank Happy Child Preschool and the 2nd-grade classes at Stephen Bell Elementary for spending time with us and learning about fire safety. We always enjoy having the opportunity to visit with our youngest community members!

We also kicked off our visits to Bell Creek Intermediate (BCI) with the 4th-grade classes. We reviewed important fire safety lessons from previous years and introduced this year’s Fire Prevention Week theme: Lithium-Ion Battery Safety. 🔋⚡

We talked about how to safely charge our phones, tablets, and other devices, as well as e-bikes and other battery-powered equipment. We discussed the importance of using the correct charger, charging devices on a hard surface, keeping batteries away from heat and flammable materials, and recognizing warning signs that a battery may be damaged or overheating.

🏠 Take a few minutes tonight to talk with your family about battery safety. Make sure everyone knows how to safely charge your devices and what to do if a battery begins to overheat, swell, smoke, or show other signs of damage.

🚒🔥 Fire Prevention Week continues! 🔥🚒

A big thank you to Stephen Bell Elementary and all of the kindergarten and first-grade classes who came to visit us at the fire station today!

We had a great time talking with the students about important fire safety lessons, including how to call 9-1-1, Stop, Drop & Roll, and the importance of never playing with matches or lighters.

We also reminded everyone about the importance of having a fire escape plan at home:

🚨 Check your smoke detectors and make sure they are working properly.
🏠 Choose a family meeting place outside your home.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Make sure everyone in your family knows where the meeting place is in case of an emergency and everyone needs to leave the house.

🏠 Take a few minutes tonight to talk with your family about your fire escape plan. Test your smoke detectors, practice getting outside, and make sure everyone knows where to meet. You never know when those few minutes of preparation could make a difference!

We appreciate the teachers and staff for helping us make fire safety education a priority and, most importantly, for allowing us to spend time with these great kids!

🚒🔥 Fire Prevention Week is underway! 🔥🚒

Today kicked off our first day of fire prevention talks with the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Local School District. We were excited to welcome the kindergarten and first-grade students from Stephen Bell Elementary to the firehouse!

We talked about some important fire safety lessons, including:
📞 How and when to call 9-1-1
🛑 Stop, Drop & Roll
🏠 Having a meeting place outside your home
🔥 The importance of never playing with matches or lighters

A big thank you to the schools and teachers for allowing us to spend time with your students and help teach them how to stay safe. We look forward to seeing everyone throughout the rest of the week!
