The Belle Fourche Kids and Cops program was the recipient of 10 beautifully made quilts from the Northern Hills Quilters Guild 🤍

Every year this group generously donates their time and skills to make these quilts for children in the community!

If you are interested in donating to Kids and Cops please contact Mardi at 605-892-4240, or monetary donations can be mailed to Belle Fourche Police Department at 511 6th Avenue. Belle Fourche SD 57717. The need to assist children and members of our community grows each year and we hope to be able to continue to assist those in need, especially during the holidays!

Passing of Deputy Katherine Frank -

The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office announces with profound sadness the passing of Deputy Katherine Frank, age 26, earlier today. Deputy Frank was surrounded by her family and loved ones in her final moments. In her final act of service and generosity, she became an organ donor, continuing to help others even in her passing. Katherine worked at the South Dakota State Penitentiary from September 2022 until being hired with the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office in June 2024.

Deputy Frank’s death is a significant loss to our agency and to the broader law enforcement community in and around Sioux Falls. She served the citizens of Minnehaha County with professionalism, humility, and dedication. Her absence will be felt deeply by all who have had the privilege of working alongside her.

A memorial has been established at the Law Enforcement Center located at 320 W. 4th St., Sioux Falls, SD, for those who wish to pay their respects. The Sheriff’s Office will also continue maintaining a presence at the hospital as we support her family during this difficult time.
Further information regarding funeral services, honors, and departmental arrangements will be provided as soon as it becomes available.

Deputy Frank served with dignity and heart. Her service made a meaningful difference, and her impact will remain with us always.

We hope everyone is out enjoying the beautiful fall weather today. This morning we finished refreshing the numbers on the Riverwalk. The numbering system works as a location tool to help those in need of assistance quickly receive help when an emergency occurs.
While refreshing the numbers we painted over graffiti that has once again appeared in the 8th Ave. tunnel. If you see someone vandalizing property please report it to dispatch.
We were also able to successfully remove the sign that showed it's stubborness from years of being in the river during the tire removal project.
We hope everyone has a safe & fun weekend.

While everyone else is comfortably parked on the couch, snacks within arm’s reach, yelling at the TV because apparently they know more about football than the coaches…

Your local police officers are out enjoying the beautiful sunshine, empty streets, and the soothing sound of radar equipment. 😎

Some of you are watching the game.

Some of you are becoming part of the game. 🏃‍♂️💨

Just a friendly reminder that speed limits, stop signs, seat belts, turn signals, and the other little rules of the road still exist during football season. 😂

So enjoy the game, enjoy your Sunday, and please remember:

The football field has referees.
The roads have us. 👮‍♂️📡

And unlike football referees, we don’t need instant replay to know how fast you’re going. 😉

Drive safe. Slow down. Get home.

Because we’d much rather see you complaining about your team’s loss tomorrow than explaining to us why you thought 52 in a 35 was a reasonable fourth-quarter strategy. 🏈🚔😂

The Belle Fourche Police Department is seeking assistance in preserving the history of the department. As part of a project to preserve the history of the BFPD and carry it into the Department’s next chapter, we are collecting historic photographs of the Department, its officers, police vehicles, and related items.

Selected materials will be featured in a permanent display at the new police facility. If you have photographs you are willing to share, please message this page or visit City Hall. Staff can photograph or scan original prints so that you may retain them.

Do you know this officer's name?
