Belle Isle Weather Update Heavy Rain Today and Hurricane Outlook
Thursday, October 8

A Flood Watch is in effect for all of East Central Florida through this evening. Heavy rain and localized flooding are our most immediate concerns.

The latest briefing shared by Orange County indicates:
Numerous showers and thunderstorms could produce 2–4 inches of rain, with a 1-in-10 chance of localized totals of 5–7 inches where heavy rain bands persist.

Areas already saturated by recent rainfall, including locations with poor drainage or existing flooding, could experience greater impacts.

What about Hurricane Isaias?
The current forecast keeps the storm’s center west of Central Florida as it approaches the northern Gulf Coast. If that track holds, our area can still experience repeated showers and thunderstorms through the weekend, additional localized flooding, and breezy conditions—especially Saturday. Gusts around 20–25 mph are forecast, with stronger gusts possible in thunderstorms.

As we have seen with past storms, the track and intensity can change. Impacts can extend well beyond the forecast cone, so continue checking official updates.

Take time now to:
Secure loose outdoor items and belongings around docks.
Check medications, drinking water, flashlights, and pet supplies.
Charge phones and portable chargers.
Check on neighbors who may need assistance.
Avoid the lakes during thunderstorms.
Never drive through flooded roads. Slow down during heavy rain, keep children and pets away from floodwater, and stay clear of downed power lines.
