🚒 Busy Week at the Belle Fire Department! 🚒

It was time for our annual hose and pump testing! To comply with NFPA standards and ensure our equipment meets the highest safety requirements, every piece of gear has to undergo rigorous annual testing and inspection.

A project like this takes a lot of hard work—loading hose onto trailers, washing 24 sections of various sizes, getting everything transported, and running all the required tests. We were so busy getting the job done that no one had time to take any photos! 📸❌

🎉 The Great News: All trucks passed and every single section of hose passed! We are 100% ready to serve.

While we don't have the final exact footage count for this year just yet, we're expecting it to be right around last year's total of 15,000 feet of hose tested!

October is Fire Prevention Month, and last week was Fire Prevention Week! 🚒

Here at the station, we take this time very seriously because we know that the safety messages we spread and the actions we take can—and will—save lives.

Each year, one of our absolute favorite highlights is hosting the wonderful students from Belle Elementary School for a visit to our station! 🏫👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

The kids had a blast getting to:
✨ Meet our firefighters
✨ Explore our apparatus & trucks up close
✨ Check out the gear and equipment we use every day on the job
✨ Most importantly: Learn key safety habits on how to prevent fires and stay safe at home!

A huge shoutout to Firefighter JR Fidler and Captain Sizemore, who did an incredible job leading this year’s Fire Prevention efforts! 👏

This year’s official Fire Prevention Week theme was “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower!” ⚡🔋
We had a great time talking with the kids about safe charging habits for all our electronic devices.

Before heading back, we sent every student home with backpacks packed full of fire prevention activity materials, safety guides, and, of course, their very own plastic firefighter helmets! 🎒👨‍🚒

We want to extend a sincere thank you to the parents, teachers, and support staff who helped make this visit possible. To the parents: please take a little extra time to go through the fire prevention materials sent home in the backpacks to reinforce everything the kids learned with us!

🚨 HUGE THANK YOU! 🚨

The Belle Fire Department Inc. would like to extend a massive thank you to the Carpentry Pre-Apprenticeship class at the Charleston Job Corps!

These talented students stepped up to handle the design, manufacturing, and assembly of four custom step chocks for our rescue engine, which they generously donated to our department.

The Carpentry Pre-Apprenticeship program is just one of the many outstanding educational programs offered at the Job Corps. In fact, our very own Captain James Sizemore is the Network Cabling instructor there!

We are incredibly impressed by the professional quality of their work. These chocks are built to last and will be an essential tool for our team for many years to come. It’s wonderful to see such skill, dedication, and local connection in our community!

Thank you again to the Charleston Job Corps Carpentry Pre-Apprenticeship class for helping us stay prepared to serve!

October 1st marks the first day of Fire Prevention Month, and our crews hit the ground running tonight! 🚒

While one crew gave Engine 53 a wash and shine for the Riverside Homecoming Parade, another team was in Burning Springs installing free smoke detectors for a community member without smoke detectors.

To wrap up the night, everyone assembled Fire Prevention goodie bags for our upcoming Fire Prevention Week visit from Belle Elementary School next week.
