The Seven Mountains EMS Council Mourns the Loss of A Dedicated Public Servant
This weekend, the emergency services community across our region suffered the loss of a provider whose life was dedicated to serving others. Today, Robert "Bob" Barlett, and honor the legacies he leaves behind.
Robert "Bob" Barlett, whose lifelong dedication to public service spanned decades. Bob began serving his community at a young age with the McVeytown Volunteer Fire Company and went on to become a Station Captain at Lewistown Fire Department's City Hook & Ladder Company before serving as Chief of the Department. At the time of his passing, he continued his service as District Chief 14 for the Lewistown Fire Department.
Bob's commitment to caring for others extended into EMS as well, earning his EMT certification and serving with McVeytown Ambulance. Beyond emergency services, he served the residents of Lewistown through his work on Borough Council. A devoted Pittsburgh sports fan, Bob was perhaps best known for something even more important: he was a stranger to no one and a friend to all. His kindness, leadership, and unwavering dedication to his community leave behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.
Bob embodied the values that define our profession: selflessness, compassion, dedication, and service above self. His contributions helped shape the EMS and fire service communities of central Pennsylvania, and his influence will continue to be felt through the many providers, firefighters, friends, and family members whose lives he touched.
As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a life well lived and a career spent answering the call to help others.
Please join the Seven Mountains EMS Council in keeping his family, friends, coworkers, and fellow responders in your thoughts and prayers.
Rest easy, Bob. Your final alarm has sounded. We will carry your legacy forward and take it from here.
