Hydrant Flushing Program Begins Tomorrow

The Bellingham Department of Public Works (DPW) will begin its routine water main flushing program tomorrow. Flushing will start in the southern part of town, beginning in the Harpin Street area, and will continue throughout the south end of Bellingham as the program progresses.

During flushing operations, residents may experience temporary water discoloration or reduced water pressure. These conditions are normal and should clear shortly after flushing is completed. If you experience a complete loss of water pressure or prolonged discoloration, please contact the DPW at 508-966-5813.

Residents are encouraged to check their water before doing laundry. If rust stains appear on clothing, do not use bleach, as it can set the stain and permanently damage the fabric.

A special rust-removing detergent is available free of charge at both the Town Clerk’s Office and the DPW Office.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we perform this important maintenance to help maintain water quality throughout the system.
