WHAT: We are planning some fun family-friendly activities and will provide tours of the station, along with light refreshments. More details will follow in the coming weeks.

🔥 BURN BAN LIFTED - OCTOBER 1, 2026

The Whatcom County Fire Marshal's Office has lifted the outdoor burning ban, effective October 1, 2026.

🚫 Reminder that burning within an Urban Growth Area (UGA) is always prohibited, except approved recreational campfires.

⚠️ UGAs within South Whatcom Fire Authority include the Geneva neighborhood and parts of the Yew Street Rd. neighborhoods .

Today, we remember and honor all of the lives lost on the horrific day of September 11, 2001. We will never forget.

We must also not forget the individuals and their families who continue to be impacted 25 years later with 9/11 related illnesses, deaths, and mental health impacts.

Today is a day for reflection, and a day for choosing to make a positive impact on those around us, in honor of those heroes lost this day, 25 years ago.

Today we recognize the great work of all of our hard working personnel! We also want to recognize our strong working relationship with our IAFF Local 106 members and leadership.

We are so thankful our diverse work groups work so well together to serve our community.

C-Shift got together for some rural water operations training yesterday. Rural water operations training simulates areas where no fire hydrants are available. South Whatcom Fire Engines carry 750 gallons of water and our Water Tender carries 3000 gallons.

🚑🚨At 7:43 PM on 08/13/26 our Sudden Valley station was dispatched to an EMS incident with a reported unconscious patient at Marigold Dr. & Clubhouse Cir. Upon arrival, SWFA crews found multiple bystanders rendering aid to the patient, directing traffic, and more community members offering to help.

All of these actions from the community were greatly appreciated and helped us provide the best possible care.

Thank you community members for stepping in to help a neighbor!

🚒 Another beautiful day to train with ropes! E22 and E28 crews got together for joint training in-district. They worked on moderate angle terrain and used their fire engine as an anchoring point. Practicing these skills allows us to be ready when you might need us! 🚒
