26 new homes. A new five-year plan. And a whole lot to talk about!

Join us this Saturday for KulshanCLT’s Annual Meeting: a morning of connection, celebration, and looking ahead.

Then it’s your turn! Share your ideas about what success should look like as we build the future of permanently affordable homeownership in Whatcom County.

☕ Enjoy a light breakfast and catch up with members, homeowners, supporters, and friends. New to KulshanCLT? You’re welcome, too!

We’re grateful to have champions like Representative Joe Timmons and Representative Alicia Rule in our corner.

At the LaFreniere Court ribbon cutting, Rep. Timmons spoke about his work to protect renters from rising costs before welcoming our newest homeowners to LaFreniere Court. That moment said everything about why this work matters.

There’s more to come. Thanks in part to the advocacy of leaders like these, the State of Washington has committed $8 million to Thornton Village, our 46-home permanently affordable neighborhood in Ferndale. That investment leverages more than $10 million in additional funding from local government, private sources, and philanthropic partners.

In Ferndale, home prices have more than doubled since 2018, now exceeding $650,000. Fewer than one in five households can afford a median-priced home. Thornton Village will help local families find stability, and it will keep homes affordable for every family that follows.

This is what public investment done right looks like. Thank you, Rep. Timmons and Rep. Rule, for fighting for it.

At the LaFreniere Court ribbon cutting, Mayor Kim Lund asked a question we're still thinking about: "Why wouldn't we want to do this everywhere?"

It took a lot to get to this day, and she's right. Let's not stop here. Thank you, Mayor Lund, for showing up and for pushing us forward.
