Staff Spotlight: Now this is a real treat because not only do we get to shine some light on our phenomenal Page, Eden, but we also get to show you our exciting Halloween corner.

Eden decided to have their photo taken here because they are a big Halloween fan. They enjoy reading sci-fi and fantasy, as well as books that explore mythology or medieval settings. Eden has been making magic happen here at South Whatcom since the beginning of 2026, and as of recently they have swooped in to help out at our Deming branch, too.

Staff Spotlight: This is our delightful Lizz, as many of you may recognize. She is one of our fantastic front desk folks who comes in on occasion to make sure that you still have excellent service while exciting programs are happening.

On Thursday, we were thankful to have her support during session one of Tweens Learn to Cook! Lizz enjoys reading sci-fi, fantasy, and browsable non-fiction. She specifically enjoys books that feature dragons or deep dives on niche topics.

We love our new library card design by Coast Salish artist Jason LaClair. We recently unveiled this and another new card option for Library Card Sign-Up Month. Do your family and friends have a card? We'd love to help them get started with one of our beautiful new designs by local artists.

LIBRARY CARD SIGN-UP MONTH: Now that's a beautiful library card! We are honored to feature a design by Coast Salish artist Sienum Jason LaClair as one of our new library card options. Jason originally created "Cedar People" to accompany our Land Acknowledgement. We knew right away it would look great on a card. Thank you, Jason. We are grateful to partner with you on this and other projects. Donors to the Whatcom County Library Foundation funded the artist's commission. Thank you! Choose "Cedar People" or one of our other designs when you apply for your library card at any WCLS branch.
