PRESS RELEASE: Police Activity Saturday, October 3, 2026
As part of routine security measures conducted in preparation for the 5K run being held in Belmar and Lake Como this morning, members of the Belmar Police Department, along with the Bradley Beach Police Department K-9 Unit, conducted a safety sweep of the designated race route and event staging areas.
During the security sweep, a K-9 alerted to a vehicle located within the event area. Based on the K-9's indication, officers conducted a search of the vehicle which revealed no immediate threat to public safety.
The proactive use of specialized resources, including K-9 teams, is an important component of the Belmar Police Department's efforts to ensure the safety and security of race participants, spectators, volunteers, and members of the community attending public events.
The Belmar Police Department would like to thank the event organizers, volunteers, participating agencies, and the public for their cooperation and support in helping maintain a safe environment for everyone attending today's event.
