West Branch FFA traveled to Indianapolis for the 99th National FFA Convention & Expo! Throughout the trip, students toured a variety of farms and agribusinesses across Ohio and Indiana, learning more about agriculture and the many career opportunities within the industry. They also attended general sessions featuring keynote speakers, walked through the career and college expo, enjoyed the convention concert and rodeo, and connected with FFA members from across the country. A special highlight of the trip was celebrating Alex Campbell as he received his American FFA Degree on Saturday.

The proposed 1-mill Permanent Improvement levy on the November 3 ballot would provide dedicated funding for five years for safety upgrades, roofs, buses, HVAC systems, and other long-term capital improvements.

If approved, it would generate about $440,000 a year for five years, to address necessary repairs and updates in priority order. It would expire in 2031 unless voters renew it.

If it isn't approved, the district has two options: pay for these projects out of the general operating fund, where they compete directly with classroom instruction, educational programs, and student resources — or delay them.

The National Honor Society is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, October 28th from 8am-1:45pm in the high school. Any community member wanting to donate can schedule using the link below or call the high school and ask for Mr. Baker. West Branch has a long record of managing taxpayer dollars carefully.

Through strong financial management, the district paid off its 30-year construction bonds ahead of schedule in 2024. At the same time, the required 0.5-mill maintenance levy expired, reducing residents’ school tax rate to its lowest level since the construction project began.

The district has also focused on funding major facility and program improvements through grants and donations at no cost to taxpayers. Additionally, eight teaching positions have been reduced through attrition over five years to match enrollment. Energy conservation upgrades under Ohio HB 264 are also cutting utility costs districtwide.
