📍 9-1-1 can’t help if they don’t know where the emergency is. Teach your child to memorize your home address in case of an emergency. And keep a magnet on the fridge with your address and any important medical information for members of your household.

☎ Teach your child to stay on the line, answer all of the questions, and to follow the call taker’s instructions.

💡 9-1-1 call takers need:
📍 The location of the emergency
🚓 What kind of emergency services are needed (police, fire, ambulance)
📞 A phone number in case they are disconnected

Call 911 and make sure the scene is safe if an adult or teen collapses, is unresponsive, and not breathing normally. Starting CPR, finding the nearest AED, and following the instructions from 911 can be the difference before professional help arrives. ❤ Parents, caregivers, neighbors, coworkers and friends are often the first people to help in an emergency, anyone can be the difference before professional help arrives.

9/25 is a good day to remind you that Dolly Parton’s legendary “9 to 5” could help you save a life with Hands-Only CPR.

If you see a teen or adult collapse, call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest.

Have your young artists help spread the word about 9-1-1! Create an original poster, choose one of the four 9-1-1 themes, and their artwork could be one of 13 pieces selected for the regional Central Texas Emergency Communication District 9-1-1 calendar.

Visit https://ctcog.org/9-1-1-kids-create/ for the details!

We need some young artists. 🎨

CTECD is officially opening the 9-1-1 Kids Create! Poster Contest to kids and teens under 18 across our region.

The idea is pretty simple: choose one of our four 9-1-1 themes and show us what it means to you. Draw it, paint it, make it digitally, or get creative with mixed media.

We’ll choose 13 entries to create a regional CTECD 9-1-1 calendar, including the cover.

The contest is open in Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, Milam, Mills, and San Saba counties and Fort Hood. Public, private, charter, and homeschool students are all welcome.

Entries are due October 30, 2026.

We’ve put everything in one place, including the themes, rules, and a form to submit artwork online:

Teachers, parents, librarians, homeschool groups, art teachers… help us get this one in front of your creative kids.

Therapy K9 Ziva David 🐾 brought comfort, calm, and smiles to our 911 Center.

From 2018 through 2026, Ziva visited our Emergency Communications Specialists through difficult calls, stressful days, and moments when a little comfort was needed most. In a profession where we often carry the weight of other’s worst moments, Ziva had a way of giving us a moment to set that weight down. Sometimes she brought a smile, sometimes a laugh, and sometimes she just sat beside us and that was enough.

There is something special about a dog who can walk into a room full of ringing phones, radios, and constant noise and somehow make everything feel a little quieter. It didn't matter what was happening around her, she simply showed up with a gentle presence and unconditional affection.

We are incredibly grateful to Ziva and her handler for sharing comfort, companionship, and love with our 911 family.

We will remember every visit, every smile, and every quiet moment of comfort that reminded us we didn’t have to carry the heavy things alone.

Thank you, Ziva. You served those who serve others, and you will be deeply missed. ❤️🐾
