Autumn is Amazing!🍂🍁
We listened at Toddler Storytime, with growing interest, to two books about Autumn. Pretending that our scarves were colorful leaves, we danced to “Leaves Are Falling”, placing scarves on various body parts and finally tossing them in the air! We used plastic glue spreaders to paint ridges of fall colors on leaf shapes. What a celebration of the season!🍁🪾🍁

A focus on all the ways we travel was presented at Storytime this past week! We read and sang to books, imitated movements of construction vehicles and enjoyed sensory stations related to vehicles! The activity level was high and exploration of sensory materials was everywhere, which is just the way we like it! 🚁🚗🚂🫟

Toddler Storytime: Acorns!🍂🍁
Last week we had a wonderful time exploring all about acorns!
Our books helped us to learn what just one little acorn can become. We played a fun felt board game, counting down acorns until our chipmunk puppet ate them all up! We also danced, shaking our shakers to an acorn song. Later our process art activity consisted of painting with acorns by shaking a container lined with acorn shapes! The final step was attaching the shapes to real giant oak leaves!
Thanks to all the caregivers who bring their toddlers each week for learning, friendship and creativity!🍂😊🫟

Have you always wondered about haiku? You too, can haiku!

“It doesn’t rhyme. It asks only a few words, arranged in three lines. It can encapsulate the universe and our place within it. It can recount ordinary events in an unremarkable day. Simple enough to captivate children, challenging enough to engage writers for a lifetime. Rooted in Japan, the path of haiku spans centuries, cultures, oceans and language to arrive at the form we recognize.”
