Good opportunity to help maintain some speech and mobility skills, right from your own home!

Our fall virtual classes are now open for registration, and we would love for you to join us. Move, stretch, and connect from the comfort of your own home with three ongoing weekly classes.

Communication Skills Group
Fridays at 11 AM PDT
October 2 through December 18 (no class November 27)
Led by Julia Robinson, a certified speech language pathologist from Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, this group is a safe place to practice speech, communication, and memory strategies. It pairs well with your treatment plan and is open to anyone, whether or not you have completed LSVT.

Monday Chair Movement Class
Mondays at 1 PM PDT
October 5 through December 14

Friday Chair Movement Class
Fridays at 1 PM PDT
October 9 through December 18

Both chair classes are led by Anne Cooper, a Certified Feldenkrais teacher and fitness instructor. Drawing from yoga, tai chi, and dance, these seated classes help build flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination. They are great for anyone who wants the support of a chair or is looking to add to an existing exercise routine.

All PRO programs offer a scholarship registration option, so cost should never be a barrier. Always check with your physician before starting any exercise program.

Please read this story to the end…that’s where you’ll find the best answer. And, please keep visiting and keep offering gifts that bring moments of joy. It will bring refreshing joy to both of you! One of my favorite Christmas mornings was spent giving each person a gift that fit their personal preferences when I worked in life enrichment in a memory care community. The gifts were inexpensive, but brought such joy! (To them and to all of us who watched them open and enjoy them!) It didn’t even matter that the gifts ended up wandering to other people’s rooms eventually as people couldn’t keep track of which gift belonged to whom. In fact, when the gifts circulated to others, they just brought joy again! Don’t spend a lot or give something you’d be sad to lose, but give something that brings joy for a little while. Just the act of receiving and unwrapping something new brings joy, but it also brings joy over and over as they keep rediscovering something they love in their room days and weeks after your visit. Even brief moments of joy matter and can relieve a little grief for both of you.

A special day can be tinged with sorrow when your partner has dementia. But then he found the perfect gift.
