Putting our new hose management course to work! 🚒💦

recently built a new hose management training course and put it to use while testing out our new firefighting HEN Nozzles.

Crews spent time flowing water, advancing charged hose lines, and working through different hose management techniques. The new course provides a dedicated space for continued hands on training and familiarization with our equipment.

📚🚒 Storytime with !

Today, our firefighters traded fire hoses for storybooks and spent some time with our youngest community members at the library! 📖❤️

After a little reading and a lot of smiles, the fun continued outside, where the kids got to check out the fire truck and snap some photos with our crew!

It’s moments like these that remind us why we love serving this community. Building connections, inspiring little minds, and maybe even meeting a few future firefighters along the way! 🚒

Thanks for having us, and for making our day just as special as we hope we made yours!

After more than 25 years of dedicated service to the Benicia Fire Department, Engineer Jeff Toynbee has officially hung up his turnouts!

Jeff began his career with Benicia Fire on June 1, 2001, and retired on October 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that goes far beyond his years of service. With over 30 years of providing emergency medical care throughout Solano County, Jeff has spent decades answering the call and caring for his community.

Throughout his career, Jeff wore many hats. From serving on the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team to sharing his expertise in flammable liquids, small engines, and technical rescue, Jeff was a wealth of knowledge. His passion for the job even took him to Texas, where he helped train firefighters in refinery firefighting.

His dedication extended beyond the firehouse, serving as both President and Secretary of Benicia Firefighters Local 1186 and continuing to advocate for his brothers and sisters as the Local’s political advisor.

But ask anyone who has worked alongside Jeff, and they’ll tell you his greatest impact wasn’t just what he knew. It was what he passed on.

A phenomenal engineer, a patient teacher, and a mentor to countless firefighters and future engineers, Jeff helped shape generations of Benicia firefighters. His knowledge, friendship, and willingness to help others will leave a lasting mark on this department.

And of course, we can’t talk about Jeff without mentioning that unmistakable El Sobrante twang and his infectious laugh. 😂 Some personalities you simply can’t replace!

Outside the firehouse, Jeff loved golfing, cooking, and flying his RC planes. After decades of taking care of everyone else, he’s earned a little more time to enjoy the things he loves.

Jeff, thank you for the lessons, the laughs, the friendship, and the heart you’ve poured into this department. Your impact will be felt for years to come.

From all of us at Benicia Fire, congratulations! Here’s to more rounds of golf, plenty of clear skies, and a long, healthy, adventure-filled retirement. You’ve more than earned it.

National Night Out, Benicia. 🚒❤️

From one end of the city to the other, had a great time getting out into our neighborhoods, catching up with familiar faces, meeting new ones, and spending the evening with the community we’re proud to serve.

Thank you to everyone who welcomed our crews, stopped by to say hello, and let the kids climb around the rigs. Nights like this are what make Benicia feel like home.

Until next year! 🚒
