Tomorrow brings costumes, constant doorbells, and plenty of excitement. That’s fun for most of us, but it can be confusing or stressful for seniors, especially those living with dementia.
If you have an older loved one at home, a few small steps can help:
🎃 Turn on porch and walkway lights to reduce trip hazards
🎃 Clear decorations, cords, and pumpkins from steps
🎃 Put a bowl of candy outside, or a “No candy, thank you” sign, if the doorbell causes anxiety
🎃 Keep their routine as normal as possible, including dinner and bedtime
🎃 Check in by phone or stop by if they’ll be home alone
A little planning can let everyone enjoy the night.
Happy Halloween from all of us at Home Instead Bensalem! 🧡
