US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois has issued a Tornado Warning for eastern DuPage County until 12:45pm. As of 11:58am, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Glen Ellyn, moving south at 30 mph. Radar has indicated rotation and the National Weather Service reports that this storm may have already produced a brief tornado over Glen Ellyn. The US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois has issued a Tornado Warning for portions of DuPage and Cook Counties until 8:30pm. We have subsequently activated the outdoor warning sirens. A confirmed tornado was reported near Bartlett around 7:55pm and is moving east at approximately 35 mph.

Communities in the projected path include Bartlett, Streamwood, Hanover Park, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Elk Grove Village, Roselle, Bloomingdale, Itasca, Wood Dale, and Addison.

If you are within the warning area, take shelter immediately in a basement or the lowest level of a sturdy building, away from windows. Mobile homes and vehicles are not safe during a tornado. Flying debris can cause serious injury.

Bensenville EMA is actively monitoring the storm and will provide updates as they become available.

06/11/2026

The US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois has issued a Tornado Watch for our area until 9pm. A Tornado Watch means weather conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, large hail, and damaging winds. While a tornado has not been spotted, residents should remain alert and be prepared to seek shelter if a warning is issued. Bensenville EMA will be monitoring conditions as they develop.
