I just saw something suspicious and I tried calling the police department and messaging them on Facebook, but no one answered."
Did you try calling 9-1-1?
๐ฌ๐ข๐จ: "No. Itโs not really an emergency."
Do you need to speak with an officer or make a report?
๐ฌ๐ข๐จ: "Yes, but no oneโs there... and no oneโs calling me back."
While most people think 9-1-1 is only for emergencies, it's actually the ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ฎ๐ to get a timely police response, even for something you don't feel is an "emergency". There is also a non-emergency number at the 911 dispatch center. 570-784-6300.
9-1-1 dispatchers are trained to handle both emergency and non-emergency calls. Theyโre excellent at prioritizing, multitasking, and making sure the right people get your message.
Many departments, including ours, are small and donโt have someone at a desk 24/7. Our officers are out patrolling and responding to calls, not sitting by a phone.
If you're just returning an officer's call, need to follow up on something, or have general business, feel free to call our department directly. 570-925-5432.
